EVERY VOICE MATTERS - PLEASE JOIN THE CONVERSATION!
Clarkston School District is excited to announce a new interactive online communication system for receiving feedback about our schools and school district. This new tool is called ThoughtExchange, and over the next three years, we will have six different opportunities for listening and learning.
What is ThoughtExchange? Read the Question & Answer handout for more information.
Step One ran from February 27 to March 8, 2015. Thousands of Clarkston students, families, staff and residents were sent email invitations to join an online conversation. Three open-ended and simple questions were asked: What are your concerns; what do you appreciate; and what else would you like to say?
In Step 1, participants share their thoughts regarding the three open-ended questions. The thoughts and comments are public, but who said them is not. Responses go directly to ThoughtExchange for the next phase in the process.
In Step 2, participants can see everyone’s shared thoughts and add “stars” to them. The process makes it quick and easy for participants to share their thoughts and see or “star” what others have to say. Those who participated in Step 1 receive a second email inviting them back to the second “Star” step. This crucial step helps to provide a sense of the shared values and priorities across Clarkston’s schools.
The final “Discover” step, Step 3, shares participants’ thoughts and stars publicly. Thoughts and ideas will be analyzed and reports and results are shared back with the community. This final step is where everyone learns what is important to the group as a whole.
Stakeholder input and engagement is critical to ensure our schools are providing a learning environment that meets the needs of our students. This interactive tool will allow us to gain insight and rich data about what is really important to the people in our community. We can better understand what is working well, and where there is room for improvement. Thank you for participating and for your role in the success of the Clarkston School District!
