Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan

CLARKSTON SCHOOL DISTRICT ACADEMIC AND STUDENT WELL-BEING
RECOVERY PLAN

In response to two laws, one federal and one state, that connect planning for academic and student well-being recovery to eligibility to receive federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds, school districts were required to develop an Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan.

Over a two-month time frame, a team made up of Clarkston School District administrators, managers, and union representatives created an action plan for the following key themes: Professional Learning, Student and Family Voice, Community Partnerships, Recovery and Acceleration, Diagnostic Assessment Tools, and Student Well-Being. Upon completion of the action plans, the district sought feedback from parents and students by publishing an Academic and Student Well-Being survey for both groups. Families of students in grades TK-12 were encouraged to take the parent survey and students in grades 5-12 were encouraged to take the student survey. The information collected in the action plans and surveys guided the responses to the district's Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan published below. Clarkston School District Board of Directors approved this plan at their regular school board meeting held on Monday, May 24, 2021.

The district will submit plans in three phases which will allow them to engage in and plan for continuous improvement cycles, and implement powerful and equitable systems to support student needs and plan for long-term system changes.

Phase 1 - Summer 2021: Immediate and short-term strategies/interventions
Phase 2 - Fall 2021: Build on learning: plan longer-term improvements
Phase 3 - Spring 2022: Accelerate and innovate for long-term sustainable improvement
