COMMITTEE TO WRITE FOR/AGAINST STATEMENTS: Clarkston School District Board of Directors is seeking applications from persons interested in being appointed to a committee to write the for/against statements for the Asotin, Garfield, and Whitman County Local Voters’ Pamphlets related to the District’s potential Capital Projects Levy ballot measure to be considered at the February 13, 2024, or April 9, 2024, Special Election. 2-Hour Late Start for Tuesday, November 14: Clarkston School District families. There will be a 2-hour late start for all schools in the Clarkston School District on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Please watch for updates on our district’s Facebook page or website at www.csdk12.org.
School Board Meeting Location Change: Due to unforeseen events, the regular school board meeting scheduled for Monday, November 13, 2023, will be held at the Educator Support Center located at 1294 Chestnut Street. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the board room. A Zoom option is also available at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83391302634
Due to ongoing efforts to restore gas services, all schools in our district will be closed on Monday, November 13. This closure allows educators and families to be home in the event that Avista arrives to restore gas services. Winter sports practices will proceed as planned. An update on Tuesday's school status will be provided by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Due to a break in an Avista Utilities gas line, our schools will be without heat for the time being. School for Thursday, November 9, will be canceled. There is no school on Friday, November 10, in honor of Veterans Day. We will update you with further information as it becomes available.

School Board of Directors to attend WSSDA Conference in Bellevue, WA: The Clarkston School District J250-185 Board of Directors will attend the WSSDA Annual Conference in Bellevue, WA, from November 16-18, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. This is an informational event, and no board action will be taken. The conference offers an opportunity for attendees to learn, connect, and prioritize focus in their roles as educational leaders.

Congratulations to CHS Agriculture Instructor, Cami Browne, and the entire Clarkston FFA Chapter for being Named a Three Star Chapter for 2023 National Chapter Award by National FFA Organization! The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

Stay Alert, Stay Safe: A Message About Bus Stop Safety -- Please be sure to keep a look out for bus stop paddles, and always be safe around buses and our students. This afternoon one of our buses was involved in a minor accident and there were no injuries.

Grantham Elementary School received a threatening phone call this morning and was placed in Secure. The police have determined there is no current threat. Normal school activities have resumed.

6th grade students in the Clarkston School District will have the option to participate in the WA State Healthy Youth Survey (HYS). The survey will be conducted between October 9 and October 29. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students' answers are anonymous. Information collected is used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks.
